The Judas Kiss

Have you ever felt betrayed? Felt like no matter what you try to do and no matter how much you love and care for someone they can so easily reject that love? I know how it feels as most of you do as well. What is it about this betrayal that seems so hurtful? What is it about the human psyche that allows us to feel that embrace of love and encouragement from someone one moment and then in one brief instance we feel like our only recourse is to separate ourselves from that person or people? Can we become or are we so self-absorbed that we reject the efforts of those we call near and dear to our hearts.
If this were to ever happen in the church what would the backlash be? I am sure it does happen all the time which is why God looks upon us and must be shaking His head in disgust. You see, if the church can't get this love thing figured out the world will never either. Maybe the reason the world is lost and dying with a Savior is because the church doesn't even love it's own... let alone the world.
We pretend. We attempt. We make excuses but the bottom line is we do not love. If we did we would do what Jesus did. We would die.

"Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

So one of three things is true. We don't love, we won't die or we don't really have any friends.
Judas must have thought he was justified in turning his back on Jesus. But to betray with a kiss will always laugh in the face of justification. Why? because Jesus still loved Judas and Jesus still died for him.

Who will you die for?
